The route every product takes through your catalog.
Path represents a single, navigable route through the product hierarchy--from a top-level Browse (broad product grouping) down to a specific Category. It is how Prodx knows exactly where a product lives, how to rank it, and how to return it contextually in any shopper experience.
Without a full traversal record, products are orphaned. Context collapses. Discovery fails.
Orphaned Products Have No Context
A product that exists only at the leaf level has no Browse context. It cannot be rolled up, cannot appear in parent-level search results, and cannot inform substitution logic.
Navigation Has No Hierarchy to Follow
Without a full path, shopper navigation cannot progress from broad to specific. There is no 'Beverages' bucket to click into, and no 'Food & Beverage' tier to roll up.
Search Cannot Infer Department Context
Search engines that lack path data cannot distinguish a product's department. A query for 'organic' returns results from every department equally, with no Browse-informed ranking.
How Path Works
A full traversal record from leaf category to top-level Browse, maintained continuously as your catalog grows.
01
Full Hierarchy Traversal Record
Every product carries a Path — the complete ordered sequence from its leaf Category all the way up to the root Browse node. Nothing is inferred; everything is explicit.
02
Powers Roll-Up Analytics
Because Path is structured, you can aggregate any metric — sales, impressions, substitution rate — at any level of the hierarchy. From 'Deli Sliced Chicken' all the way up to 'Food & Beverage'.
03
Informs Search Ranking
Path depth signals to search engines how specific a product is within its department. A product three levels deep in a Path ranks higher for department-specific queries than a shallow one.
